My name is Joanna Granbichler and I’m a freelance translator of Polish, German and English. I have an MA degree in Written Translation (University of Vienna), a BA degree in Specialized Translation (University of Warsaw) and a BA degree in Cultural Studies (University of Warsaw).
Having received my first translation assignments during my studies, I decided to become a full-time freelance translator in 2016. This was the best career decision I have ever made. Since then, I have produced translations in many challenging subject fields such as Law, Marketing and Communication, E-commerce, Education and E-learning, Humanities (Political Science and Sociology).

Specializations
​
The bulk of my translation work revolves around the translation of legal texts. I have worked on multiple projects in this field and specialize in general law, real estate and construction law, corporate law with a focus on compliance, AML regulations, risk management and EU law. I have translated corporate documentation, contracts, risk management strategies, AML documentation and compliance training.
My second field of specialization is marketing translation. I translate websites, articles, adverting texts, slogans and keywords. These kinds of projects are often combined with copywriting and transcreation services which I also provide. My other focus in the field is translating for e-commerce. I regularly work on high-volume MTPE projects for online companies.
Aside from this, I often combine translation activity with a passion for human sciences (sociology, political science, philosophy, cultural studies). I translate articles and essays from these fields, and some of my translations have been published online and in print, in publications such as Res Publica Nowa magazine in Poland (see them here), one of my translations into German was published online and in print by Wiener Zeitung (check it out here).
